Born in Riquewihr in 1885, and deceased in Strasbourg in 1965, Paul Dopff is Gustave Dopff’s son, witner and trader from Riquewihr (9th generation).

He finished his studies in 1912 at the Stadtbauamt in Strasbourg after starting his studies in the Polytechnical Schools of Karlsruhe and Munich.

He was designated Strasburg’s chief architect in 1928 and also technical services director in 1948.

Jean Muller underlines in his preface to the Presentation of Mr. Dopff’s Creations : “After many years of studies and hard labor, Mr. Dopff acquired both remarquable practice and outstanding experience. His talent was able to flourish through the numerous public, educational, industrial and business buildings that he constructed”.

Indeed, Paul Dopff is the creator of numerous constructions in Strasburg in famous neighbourhoods of the city like Robertsau, Orangerie but as well Neudorf (see photo opposite).

It was then natural to give a street his name in Strasburg.
