We were proud to see that our Pinot Blanc 2011 was pushed forward by numerous English journalists :

The Observer (the Guardian’s magazine) : David Williams selected 3 wines of the week, among them Pinot Blanc which he described as follows “strikes a perfect balance between roundness of texture and freshness with spicy orchard fruit”.

The Wall Street Journal Europe : Will Lyons included our wine in his summer selection presenting 16 wines of the whole planet. Enthusiast comments like “what appeals are its creamy texture and delicate nose, which has both a little nutty savor and the freshness of sliced apple. »

Wine Page : Tom Cannavan (who forms part of the famous 5 of The Wine Gang) posted on his website a very positive video which recommends our wine, “ a nice job of making a fresh, fruity, fairly full-bodied but crisp wine in the style Alsace can do so well. Aromas of apple and melon fruit [...], weight and creamy texture, [...]the citrus and apple acidity balancing [...]- and that’s where this wine excels”.

A warm thank you to these journalists for all their comments… And we invite you to discover our Pinot Blanc 2011 which would be a perfect match with YOUR summer menus !

Hervé Naulau, French journalist passionate about wine, carried out an interesting study :

Which perception do we have of the same wine when bottled with two different closures ? Which are the effective differences between cork and screwcap ?

For his analysis he and his colleagues chose the “inevitable” Riesling Schoenenbourg Grand Cru, vintage 2009 of our Estate.

“To resume, we cannot say that there is an real superiority of one closure system compared to the other, but differences are flagrant. It seems that the bottle closed by screwcap will have a longer life, but this hypothesis needs to be confirmed by long lasting studies. He asserts “that in any way wine gives the impression of better keeping its freshness.”

We underline that this comparison is made on the basis of wine year 2009, and that this special tasting and study may naturally differ conforming to the vintage and to the wine year’s  characteristics.

Good news, the very first wines of harvest 2011 have got bottled ! After a premature and generous harvest, the first evaluation has been satisfactory. In the cellars, juices transformed into elegant wines with high aromatic complexities.

Crémant d’Alsace is definitely a success of this vintage, as well as Sylvaner is.

In this vintage, Riesling is really convincing : richness of aromas and ripe acidity.

Pinot Blanc and Auxerrois suffered a lot of wet summer conditions, but gave birth to dry wines all in softness and harmony.

Pinot Gris has a good structure and fruitiness, together with complexity.

Pinot Noir shows a good colour and elegant tannins.

Muscat are crisp and fruity.

And finally, Gewurztraminer are robust, fine and complex wines with notes of spice and yellow stewed fruits.

Do not hesitate to come to Riquewihr and taste the freshly bottled 2011 vintage in our Caveau, or simply visit our store online !

Great news … after being tested for export, the new label Cuvée Julien replaces the one known by

everybody from the end of September 2011.

A makeover that occurs 25 years after the previous … the label changes, but not the quality!

Overview of the new look of the bottle.

Looking forward to hearing your comments and feedback on this new label.

Soon also the evolution of the labels of sparkling qualities scheduled for early 2012.
